The Miramont Castle was built in 1895 by Father Dyer of the Methodist Episcopal Church. The castle was originally intended to be a sanatorium for tuberculosis patients. However, the castle was never used as a hospital and instead became a private residence for the Dyers. The Miramont Castle Museum is now open to the public and offers tours of the castle and its grounds. The castle has been beautifully restored and features many original furnishings. The museum also houses an extensive collection of artifacts from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Read about Reasons to Visit Cheyenne Mountain Zoo in Colorado Springs, CO here.
